A completed calculation is not the same as a published Environmental Product Declaration. Manufacturers should plan modelling, verification and programme publication as separate deliverables, even when a software workflow helps connect them. This avoids promising a tender-ready EPD when only draft results exist.
Agree the publication route first
Identify the intended market, programme operator, PCR and product coverage before building the model. Check whether the client needs a product-specific declaration, a product-family declaration or another permitted format. Similar products cannot automatically be grouped simply because they share a brand name. EPD International describes PCR selection as the starting point.
What pre-verified software does—and does not—mean
One Click LCA describes pre-verification of the underlying structures and calculation methods in its EPD Generator workflow. That can streamline review, but it does not turn every user's input into verified evidence. Confirm the verification and publication requirements for your selected route. A useful distinction is between checking the calculation system and checking the specific declaration. Your manufacturing records, coverage, assumptions and reported information still need the review required by the programme. Do not describe a draft exported PDF as independently verified unless that status has actually been granted.
Prepare a review-ready package
Our suggested handover contains a frozen model revision, source-data register, calculation assumptions, draft declaration and a response log. Explain allocation choices in ordinary language as well as in the model. A reviewer should be able to follow a major input from the factory record to the declared result without reconstructing the entire project from emails.
Manage comments without losing version control
Assign each review comment an owner and record the response, evidence and affected model revision. If a correction changes results, update the model and declaration together. Avoid sending a newly exported chart with an older background report. This is a project-control recommendation, not a substitute for the programme operator’s submission instructions.
Check the published record before using it
Once publication is complete, verify the product name, manufacturing coverage, registration details, declared unit and validity information against the approved package. Give sales teams the official record and a short explanation of its scope. An EPD covering one plant or product range should not be casually presented as covering everything the company manufactures.
How long will it take?
There is no reliable universal lead time: missing supplier information, revisions and reviewer availability all affect delivery. Ask for milestones for data readiness, modelling, review and publication instead of one unsupported completion date. Keep a change log after publication so changes in formulation, sourcing or production can be assessed under the applicable programme rules.
